WOLF AMNO
anyone here use wolf ammo if you do ,is it good ammo
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
Are you seriously spelling it A-M-N-O?
If so, why? More OT, I don't use it but my friend uses it for his AK in copious amounts (precisely why he chose wolf). It feeds and fires perfectly all day long. He says he makes double sure to clean up real well though because the stuff makes a real mess (but when does 500+ rounds not make a mess of any gun?) |
Re: WOLF AMNO
wolf ammo sorry
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
LOL, that's funny. I understand messing up the thread title (can't edit that) but misspelling it again twice in the same sentence led me to believe I was the one missing something.
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
I shoot it all the time, 1000's of rounds never had any problems. The only thing is it stinks when you shoot it. It has an ammonia smell. I'll live with the smell cause it's cheap!
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
I have never had a problem with wolf rifle or pistol ammo. Or shotgun ammo now that I think about it.
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
Dirtiest ammo you can buy.
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
Been using it well over 15 years, just avoid the old laquer coated if you can, tends to gum up a bit when used heavily, the new stuff is great.
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
I've used it. It's garbage. The steel cases are a little hard on the extractors. Plus, it's the only ammo that I can find that will make a bushmaster jam. Not often, maybe 1 in a 1000 but the jam I had was pretty serious. What happened was somehow there was a gouge in the case and when the bullet pushed it into battery, the case lodged securely in the chamber. Needless to say the Bushmaster was done for the day as I did not have the proper tools to dislodge the stuck case. I've since sold that rifle and currently don't own any guns (due to severe financial crisis). So, you'll be taking info from a current non gun owner.

Re: WOLF AMNO
Agree with most here.
Ugly, Dirty, a little rougher on the gun (as i understand it. no noticeably excessive wear here), but reliable and cheap. I buy it. |
Re: WOLF AMNO
I use it by the can in our .45 auto pistols shooting bowling pins.A bit dirty but the price is good and if you are going to blow through 300+ rounds goofing off, would anybody not clean thier gun when they are done?

But if you happen to live in the UK, good to see you are on top of the trends! They are stabbing and slashing each other at ever increasing rates. Total gun ban victory!!:sarcasm: |

Me.:tongue_ma: I shoot a lot of it in 30 carbine and 5.45x39. Basically, it's the dirtiest, stinkiest, junkiest, least accurate ammo going. Also, the steel cases are not worth anything (unlike brass). IMO, it's great for AKs, but I won't shoot it in my nice guns. I really kinda wish I would have gone for the good stuff when I bought the carbine food, but hey, it was cheap! It does all go bang. |
Re: WOLF AMNO
I've got some Wolf Gold ammunition. It's actually made by privi partizan to M193 standards, so it's good to go!
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
I've read that Golden Tiger is better for 7.62x39 but haven't personally used any.
I've read it is cleaner. |

I will not enter uninvited. I'd rather take my chances vs. a shotgun.:rolleyes_m: |
Re: WOLF AMNO
I've found Wolf will function well in just about every AK clone or AK based action out there. Yep, it dirty but AK designs cah take a lot of abuse.
elroy is right about Golden Tiger its a lot cleaner burning and a good deal better accuracy wise out of my SAR-1 (groups smaller and consistent). YMMV. |

Re: WOLF AMNO
do you need to break in a ak47 it new in the box

Re: WOLF AMNO
Its fine in the Soviet weapons it was designed for, the SkS,AK, Nagant, etc.its made in Tula armory mostly, the "gold" edtions are mostly Serbian, using German machines and are much cleaner, a Ruger Mini-30 doesnt digest the 7.62x39 very well, but the Mini-14 eats the .223 perfectly, Ive read this post many times on gun forums, and ive came to the conclusion, the AK was designed to operate with looser tolerances and will function with about any ammo while the ARs foul easily, and a high deposit ammunition isnt recommended.

Re: WOLF AMNO
Wolf is good in kalashnikovs...I do prefer Silver Bear for my Saigas.
62 soft point in .223, 140 soft point in .308 Also Russian HP in 7.62x39 |

Anyone know if this will be alright in an AR-15. 500rds - .223 Centurion Military Contract 55gr. FMJ Ammo This is .223 Centurion Military Contract 55gr. FMJ Ammo. This ammo is manufactured by a U.S. Military contractor that has contracts to manufacture various types of ammunition and countermeasure flares for the U.S. Military. This ammo is brass cased, boxer primed, and 100% non-corrosive. This is clean, reliable, and accurate military grade ammo at a reasonable price. This is premium 100% new manufactured ammo, made in the USA. This ammo comes bulk packed. |
Re: WOLF AMNO
It's good ammo but a little more dirty than most. Shouldn't be a problem if you clean your firearms regularly like you should.
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
You mean Wolf NON-performance ammunition?
|
Re: WOLF AMNO
wolf is the "generic" of stell cased ammo.
It is the cheapest and for good reason, dirtiest powder, most likely to find rounds out of spec, over or under seated bullets, improperly crimped, wide variences of velocity due to inconsistant powder loads and burn rates.... I'll shoot it out of the SKS, AK's or Uzi's without hesitation. Cheap fun blasting ammo. If you are trying to do any sort of grouping or accuarate shooting (MOA vs minute of man) you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. I don't buy any wolf anymore. NONE. The bears (silver or brown), golden tiger... Barnaul is my favorite russian steel cased. Prices are the same if not better for other manufactures. Also, the wolf we fell in love with in 1999 and 2000 is NO WHERE near as good as the current production wolf (be it classic or military). The gold line is good, but as noted above the good gold line is made my Priv Partisan and only bears the wolf name. I've listed before the MANY issues I and fellow GIMers I personally know have had with wolf in non AK/SKS/Uzi platforms. Do a search if your interested. |
Re: WOLF AMNO
if your lookin for a cheapo ammo....look to cci blazer...boxes of 50 cost me 7.99 which is a deal imo. downside for these are they are non reloadable...aluminum alloy. clean shot. no misfires (yet).

Also living in northern Michigan we have some pretty wild weather extremes from totally frozen to 95 degrees and 95% humidity. With the cans I can store ammo in the pole barn and not have to worry about it going bad. Like others on this thread I only buy the cans of silver and gold bear for the rifles, but the .45's and 9mm will eat anything so regular red box wolf is fine. usflag |
